CTE Students Get Hands-On Look at Architecture, Construction & Engineering

DHS and ASPIRE students recently stepped onto a real job site to see what careers in construction look like up close.

On January 30, 22 Career and Technical Education students visited the future site of Douglas County’s Judicial Complex for an “Introduction to ACE” (Architecture, Construction, and Engineering) experience. After a safety briefing and gearing up in hard hats and PPE, students toured the active construction site with project architects and construction professionals.

They saw masonry and structural work in progress and learned how design plans turn into a finished building. Along the way, they asked questions about careers in the trades and what it takes to manage a large-scale project.

“We are incredibly grateful to CORE Construction and their dedicated team for partnering with DCSD to inspire our students to pursue a career in the trades," said Cade Baligad, Director of Career and Technical Education for Douglas County School District. “Seeing these career paths in action is an invaluable experience that bridges the gap between school and the workforce.”
